SUSTAINABILITY

The Rural Telecenter project will have direct support from INICTEL, which will cooperate for its development, management, financing and all related activities.

Likewise, the project will also be supported by local and external institutions which work in information related fields; while benefited population is constituted by identified social groups as well as by local participants (government authorities, public and private institutions, etc.

Local participants as Municipalities for instance, are an important information source, however; they need more information in order to improve their performance. Therefore, municipalities will play two roles for the telecenter; one as a support institution (by generating and providing information and knowledge), and the other one as a user.

So, a positive and efficient information source circle will take place, not only at local level, but also with external institution support (sources and participants). So, local participation in social knowledge will be promoted by the use of ICTs.

Moreover, inclusion to other institutions (public institutions, civil associations, NGOs, associations including producers, etc) are planned to be promoted to which the project will provide with communication, promotion and information management support in order to provide information and services of interests for final user needs.

With regard to service users, they are consider to generate incomes for telecenter operation and maintenance through a rate of 070 cents of “nuevo sol” (National currency) per hour of service use. But first, users will be appropriately trained in the use of ICTs and be conscious of their importance for personal development.
